Design Statement
Considering a cyborg is a hypothetical person extended past human limitations, many think expect that cyborgs would incorporate technology to enhance the human experience. I wanted to think outside of that expectation, creating a cyborg with no technological advances. By taking another living thing that also possesses double helix DNA molecules, this cyborg is the combination of human and plant. With a human body and flowering head, the cyborg sprouts from a pot, growing leaves and thorns on its vines. As a plant, the cyborg will obtain energy through light, no longer needing to harm other species to receive nutrients. The cyborg will be rooted in the pot, no longer needing transportation that contributes to pollution. With this cyborg, there will be cleaner air, having a positive effect on the world and its climate. The thorns and vines provide protection to the sensitive human body, allowing for a longer lifespan. By creating a self-sufficient cyborg – not requiring the resources we are running out of – the world would be able to replenish what we have taken from it.
